<media:text type="html" lang="en">The Fear of Delight

It was a beautiful day.
The sky was gleaming bright blue, a few dreamy clouds just floating around. A magnificent scent was floating through the air. Hot dogs, I thought.
It was quite noisy. Everywhere I walked, I heard people yelling, screaming, and laughing, and I was part of it.
My friends and I were walking through Six Flags, talking and laughing. As we walked, the barkers, wanting us to try our luck at games that everybody knows is almost impossible to win, called to us, We wanted those huge prizes so badly, but we denied them anyway.
The first thing my eyes met and desired was the Big Shot. Seeing those people being thrown up in the air and back down, the air blowing in my face, made me in the mood to try it. "Hey, how about we try out the Big Shot?" I tried, hoping that my friends would want to go too.
"I'll go on anything," Steve replied.
Ryan, though, had that fearful look on his face. "Sorry," he said shakily. "I won't go on. I hate that ride so much. It makes me puke every time I go on it." He made an imitation of regurgitating, and we all laughed.
"Fine," I said, with a slight bit of disappointment in my voice. "We can skip this one. Of course, there are so many other rides. And we have such little time!" In reply to that, Steve and Ryan nodded and started running ahead, trying to get on the most rides possible in the time we had in the day. "Wait up!" I called out, and started running to catch up with them.

As we strolled through the park, we found a park map on the ground and looked at it.
"Eww," I said, clenching my teeth. "This thing is wet! Steve, you're a gross guy. You pick up daddy long-legs from the ground and pluck off their legs, so why don't you hold it?"
"Sure," He answered quite obviously.
The park was huge. There were rides everywhere, and we were excited, wanting to try them all.
“Hey, guys,” Ryan pointed out. “I know a ride that we should start with. It’s called the Medusa. Here it is.” Ryan pointed on the map where the Medusa was, explaining how we would get there.
“Alright,” I yelled. “Medusa, here we come!”

After traveling a bit, we finally got to the Medusa.
“Wow!” Steve said in awe.
The ride was monstrous. Right above our heads was a section of the rollercoaster, which twisted and turned in a double loop. Inadvertently, at that very moment, one of the cars flew by on the double loop, and people were yelling and screaming. The sound was deafening. It was like a roaring bear, but much louder. How are you supposed to go on the ride if it is that loud? I thought to myself.
In addition to the noise, seeing the loops and twists made me think about regretting my decision.
Ryan had seen my fearful reaction. “Come on, you're not afraid, are you?” He evidently knew what I was going to say, but he decided to have some fun with me.
“No, of course not! Let’s go!” We ran up the pavement until we got to the line. We were all disappointed when we found out that the line was enormous.
“An hour wait? That’s not fair!” Steve exclaimed. “What are we going to do, waiting here for an hour?”

Finally, as we neared the top, Steve had an idea. “I’ve been on this ride many times before. The front of the cart is great, so I will be sitting in the front. You can join me if you want, but I recommend we split up. One in the back, middle, and front. IT will be more fun that way. Where do you guys want to sit?”
Whew, I thought. Now they won’t see my fear when I’m on it. “I can sit in the middle,” I suggested.
“And I can sit in the back,” Ryan offered.
“Great!” Steve exclaimed. “It’s settled then. Oh, and, when you’re car is finished, wait for me. As you know, the front line is always longer than the others.”
By that time, we were up to the top, ready to get into our car. I walked across the steel floor, and into the seat. I buckled myself in and pulled down the cushion handles. While I was waiting, I examined who was sitting next to me. It was a girl, with nice black hair and a white top with light blue jeans. She looked a few years older than me. She seemed very excited.
I was not. I couldn’t wait until it was over. The safetyman came to every seat to make sure everything is secure, and then he left. Before I could realize what was happening, the floor dropped under me. Where there used to be a solid steel floor, now there was nothing, showing us the ground fifty feet below me. I freaked. Are you kidding me? I thought.
Then the car started to move forward. I thought it would start out like a normal roller coaster, where you start to go up a hill. But this was different. As soon as we were out of the base, we dropped downwards a bit, going in a full twist at eighteen miles per hour. After that, we started to chain up the hill.
At the top, I had the ultimate fear. This is it, I thought. No turning back now. I closed my eyes, forcing them shut. We turned slightly on an angle, and sped down the hill, sideways. It felt like we kept on falling and falling. The wind was devastating. I opened my eyes and realized it wasn’t so bad! Then I noticed that the level of sound wasn’t so loud, either. It didn’t make any sense, but I enjoyed it.
We sped down the track, making loops and twists, and we finally got up to the ultimate double-twisting loops. It happened so fast; it felt like I was drifting in mid-air. We kept on twisting, and the wind only made it more enjoyable. This is great! I thought. Then, as we started speeding back down from the loops, I felt my body return to gravity and thud against the seat, no longer feeling as if I was flying.
More twists and turns. We arrived back in the deck, all happy and cheerful. Looking at the girl next to me, I chuckled lightly. The girl who once had the nice, slick hair was now completely frizzed up. Her eyes were popping out in amazement. She was holding a cell phone in her hands, and was talking, saying, “Wow, that was amazing! Mom, Dad, you HAVE to try it!”

Steve finally came, and we continued our adventure. We took out the map, and looked at it, seeing what we should do next.
“Wow! That was amazing!” I exclaimed. “Now I’m ready to go on anything.
“How about we try the Nitro?” Steve suggested. “I’ve been on it countless times, and it’s great.”
“Alright,” I said excitingly. “The Nitro it is. Let’s go!”

By the time we got to the Nitro, my feet were sore from walking so much. I knew I would not be afraid that I would only have fun. But when I saw the height of it, I realized that this might not be as easy as the Medusa. At least there are no loops and twists, I thought. “Well, it’s a good thing it has a short line!”
When we got up to the cars, we had already decided that we’d all sit in the front row. “This’ll be fun,” I said cheerfully, even though I knew it was not going to be so easy. We got into the seats, strapped ourselves in, and got read to go on the ride of our lives. I would not have been surprised if the floor fell out bellow us, but it did not. Instead, we just started off and made a sharp turn to the left.
While we were being chained up the hill, I decided to check out the view. On the left, there was a gigantic lake, with a forest surrounding it. I looked the other way and I saw a parking lot. I knew the entire park was behind me. Then I realized how big this place really was.
It seemed to take an entire minute to reach the top. Oh, great, I thought. This one goes straight down. But I decided to leave my eyes open anyway. Straight down we went, gaining speed by the second. The wind was terrifyingly strong, forcing my mouth to be pressed back. I felt a sensation that I had never felt before. At the bottom of the hill, it curved straight back up, and we were flying. Going straight up, to the top, all I saw was a brilliant blue sky. IT made me feel as if I was flying. I yelled out in excitement, but my voice could not be heard because of the extremely strong wind blowing in my face.
Up and down we went, making sharp turns, and then we finally came to the ultimate turn. It was a whirlpool-shaped track that kept on going in circles downwards. The turn was terrifyingly strong. No matter how hard I tried to keep my head from being thrust into the cushioning, it was too strong, and my head hurt against the cushioning. Finally, as we rounded the final turn and back onto the normal track, I felt my head ease with the wind. My neck hurt, but I decided it was worth it.
We eventually pulled back into the dock, and we were let out. “That was absolutely amazing!” I yelled out in joy. Steve, Ryan, and I looked at the map again.
“Where should we go next?” Ryan wondered, his voice a bit shaky from the end of the ride.
“Well, who wants to try Superman?” Steve suggested.</media:text>

Forging A New Path

Ya...I couldn't really think of an appropriate title for this.. >_<
But I do feel it's fitting me, as I AM forging a new path by creating this kind of stuff, and starting to get deeper into art. So I guess this photograph manip can be a checkpoint (vie its title) as what I am going through.

So yeah, this is my first photograph that I'm submitting here. Of course, the atmosphere and texture were all edited in photoshop to give it this feel, but everything about him (and scenery/background) are virtually the same. I like to keep things natural, while still being able to change it to a new mood. (Ask me if you want to see the original ,see how much of it was really changed)

So this is my first type, as I was sort of experimenting. Although, this IS what I envisioned from the start when I decided to modify it and submit it here. I found the effects/atmosphere kind of interesting, also maybe because this is my first time doing something of this type/genre.

The model? Well, do I have to call him that, exactly? He also doesn't want me revealing his name. But he DID give me permission to modify it, and I also got his approval after him seeing it to post it here.
He's a friend of mine (no, that's not me, okay? XD), and I just randomly took this shot when we went out for pizza after bowling last Saturday Night. (We were bored, and we had some fun; he posed thoughtfully, and I took a pic at the pizza shop)(and yes, those are the actually colors of his eyes. >_> ).

So, my tools of the trade used for the shot itself and the editing of this shot: Adobe Photoshop CS3, Wacom Bamboo pen tablet, and a 7.2 Mega Pixels Casio Exilim EX-Z77 camera (IT has some awesoem features, great quality photo capability and photo sizes, and a 3x optical zoom) (and yes, it's a portable, not one of those professional can't-tell-the-difference-whether-its-from-the-70s-or-a-latest-tech-camera).

So please, tell me what's bad about this, whether it's good, what I should improve on, and just in general whether its good for a first while experimenting.

My best Lineart Yet

PLEASE FULL VIEW!!!!

This is my best and largest lineart yet (3143x4224). I spent over 20 hours of work into this piece. I am amazed at how much effort I put into this. And this is also one of my goals, that I have now finally accomplished, and I feel I am finally getting back into graphic design.
It would be a lot better to see the details if you see the original "scaled down" size. Click on the "View Original" on the bottom right of the image.

For one thing, by doing this, I have finally mastered the pen tool. I know all of its in-and-outs and how to use it properly.

I purposely uploaded it in its full resolution , so you can see all the detail in it. I went for pixel-perfection, making sure every line was PERFECT. And, I'm quite satisfied with the result. From here, I plan on turning this into a digital painting, which will be my first DP.

This was originally a drawing from a friend of mine, Temima Lock, and she gave me full rights to vectorize it and post it here. She will also be helping me with Project Rendan, possibly even being the artist behind it.

If you want to use this, ask me first, and I may give it to you, for learning purposes only. But first, I'm going to have to run it through with Temima, too.

Please comment, I'd love to hear your opinion on this!!

Streams of Hope

Hope, Despair;
Fulfillment, Procrastination;
Elevation, Desolation;
Fortification, Abandonment;
Contribution, Requisition.

These are all things which can immediately become the other.

Because within the despair there are streams of hope.

All it takes is the little bit of effort to believe.

Even if you don't think you can accomplish, there are always going to be streams of hope to find. All you need to do is harness one to strengthen the other.

Find enough of the streams, and what was once little and useless hope can become the revelation of your own destiny.

Inspired a bit from what I am going through. My life so far has been harsh and helpless, yet I am starting to find the small streams of hope that are helping me reverse the tides of my fate. I am starting to turn my desolation into elevation, and my despair into hope.

It works like a chain reaction. When I improve in those areas, I am now able to turn my abandonment into fortification and requisition into contribution, which in turn helps me improve in the other areas.

I am still holding out strong, and slowly gathering my streams of hope to be able to become the man I envisioned myself to be.

A bit of advice: If you can act as if you have already accomplished what you wish to achieve, your thoughts will then become a reality.

Stay strong and forge that stream of hope,

I've never actually done a vector, and I guess you can't consider this a vector (since its not re-sizable or made from basic shapes). It has self-added details like specific brush spotting, and selective gradients, and so on. But a lot of it was vector-based, starting from paths. So if any of you know what this kind of artwork is called, please tell me. (It can't be vector cause its not made purely from vectors, and its not digital art because it includes vectors.)

I feel I did a pretty nice job on making this as realistic as possible.
I don't want my time to go to waste. Ask me if you want to use it. I'll give you the original *vector*, without the text, reflection, or backdrop.
I may even implement this into a completely hand-made sig....
